John Bucy has practiced law in the State of Texas since 1981. His focus has been business and regulatory matters. During his career he has been a partner at two major Dallas based law firms Jenkens & Gilchrist and Johnson & Wortley, P.C.
John Bucy has significant experience in the energy and infrastructure sector: At Johnson & Wortley, he was one of the partners that represented for Texas-New Mexico Power in the State of Texas in the permitting of a lignite coal plant before the Public Utility Commission of Texas; Represented Oklaunion Power Station (“OPS”) in its efforts to convert the plant to a natural gas power plant. As part of that representation, John Bucy represented OPS at the TCEQ, ERCOT and other agencies, and negotiated the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Contract (“EPC Contract”) with Mitsubishi Power Systems Americas, Inc. Also, he represented OPS in its negotiations with Air Products for the development of a green hydrogen facility on the OPS site and Genesis Digital Assets. Genesis Digital Assets will lease land from OPS to construct digital mining facilities and purchase power from OPS.; Represent a New Mexico Sustainable Water (“NMSW”) that is planning a 200 mile water pipeline in the state of New Mexico, in negotiating an EPC Contract with Garney Construction and negotiations with financial partners; Represented DTHB, Inc. in negotiating an option and lease agreement with a subsidiary of TotalEnergies for a solar project; Representation in negotiations of a land lease for the construction and operation of a hydrogen production and distribution facility and a solar project.
